About This Project
Wanted to deeply understand the Canvas API, so I built a browser-based pixel art editor with zero external libraries or frameworks. Every feature - the drawing engine, custom color picker, coordinate-based grid system, and export pipeline - is written entirely from scratch in vanilla JavaScript. The editor handles variable canvas dimensions, custom hexadecimal palettes, and transparent PNG rendering. This served as an in-depth exercise in building complex interactive UIs and managing state from first principles.
Tech Stack
Key Features
- Custom drawing engine built on Canvas API
- Variable grid sizes with zoom controls
- Custom color palette with hex input support
- PNG export with transparent background option
The Outcome
A fully functional creative tool deployed live at pixelify.adibdev.me with zero dependencies. Proved that complex interactive UIs can thrive without bloated frameworks while sharpening low-level DOM event handling and canvas pixel manipulation.
